I began to feel a bit needy over the past few weeks. I am not sure why cause I have been insanely busy with life in general but I just needed someone to snuggle. The girls are at school now and I only nanny part time so I started looking at dogs. I say started like it isn't something I always do. I follow the local Humane Society on my FB feed and often browse through the puppy posts on local yardsale sites. I would bring them all home if I could!
We had promised Evie a bulldog for her birthday next year but the more I thought through the harder time I had with it. Not the bulldog part but the part about how expensive they are and how good breeders are hard to find here. Plus we have always adopted our pets rather than buying them "new". So I kept an eye out for a bulldog to re-home and instead we found her:
Meet Happy the newest addition to our family. She is half Miniature Pinscher and half Chihuahua and is 3 months old. Her family decided to rehome her because their older Chihuahua hated her and there 2 year old was too rowdy with her. We picked her up on Saturday and have been absolutely in love with her ever since.
She is the sweetest little thing and just wants to be held and loved all day long. Funny enough our older dog Pixie loves her and even tolerates how rowdy she is. The cats are a different story. Binx tolerates her and just runs away when she tries to play with him. Stella kinda hates her. She hisses at her, refuses to play with her, and is extremely jealous that Happy is always on someones lap cause that is her spot. She needs to get over herself
The hardest part about getting Happy was trying to decide what to name her. Since it is Evie's dog she was given a chance to name her first. All her names were unsurprisingly food related. Since I wasn't going to call a dog Cookie or Snickers we tried some suggestions. Bella wanted to go with Darla and Brandon suggest Cholula (his favorite hot sauce) then calling her Lula for short. We asked her original owner her name and were told it was Pepper so we were going to stick with that. Evie pointed out that was Iron Man's girlfriend which seemed to make it ok in her mind. Then on the ride to pick her up Happy came on the radio so I suggested that is what we name the dog. Turns out it was the best name for her because she is an extremely happy girl!
It is so much fun to have a puppy around the house and she is a BIG snuggler. She has to be on my lap snuggled up all day long which is exactly what I was looking for.

PS Potty training a puppy sucks!
